Training

I studied for a Planting Design Diploma Planting at London College of Garden Design, based at Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew, graduating with Distinction and the ‘Prize for best student’ in 2020 and I was awarded an RHS Level 2 Certificate in Horticulture with Distinction, from Capel Manor College.

Passion for plants and design

I have been passionate about growing plants since childhood, creating gardens everywhere I have ever lived – from my own patch in my parents’ garden, to window ledges, rooftops, and small unpromising shady areas. I have been an allotment holder for over 20 years and look after the flower garden in St Benet’s community garden in Kentish Town. I am an occasional pavement botanist – looking at plants that arrive by accident and survive in an urban context.

My first career as an architect informs my practice as a garden designer. I developed particular skills in strategic thinking, listening and helping clients work out their priorities and what they need from a project; developing environmentally conscious designs / masterplans and producing original solutions adapted sensitively to their context. I will bring these same skills to your project.

Through my own experience and my work, particularly in the healthcare sector, I learnt of the healing power of plants and nature – even a view of landscape or plants is proven to help people recover, and gardens have a really positive impact on mental health for everyone.

I worked for David Morley Architects for 27 years, leaving as an Associate Director to follow my passion for plants and design.

Juliet Erridge Studio

I founded Juliet Erridge Studio in 2020 to create imaginative gardens with beautiful plants that allow you to live better in the outdoors.
