Primrose Hill terrace garden

This terrace garden opens onto a communal area. The walls are clothed with climbers. Layers of textured green shrubs, ferns and perennials in a rusted Corten steel planter, bring the garden closer to the house, while a maple tree provides a sense of enclosure and a focus to the terrace.

This garden is for a person who loves texture and the detail of plants. They have a terrace that opens out onto a communal garden and wanted to have a little more separation from the communal area.

The design clothes both the terrace walls with climbers, then adds layers of plants with a maple tree in a soft coloured terracotta pot and carefully chosen perennials, ferns and shrubs to suit the shady position in a rusted Corten steel planter.

The tree provides a focus that draws the eye away from the houses beyond. The climbers soften the terrace and bring the garden closer to the house.

Using my architectural experience, I have advised on external lighting and the choice and arrangement of a more flexible furniture solution.

Terrace Outside Toward House.
